Rockwell hardness testers are named after the measurement principle of the same name known as the Rockwell method for testing the hardness of materials. This method of measuring the hardness of metals is the most common and simple. Due to the speed of measurement, Rockwell hardness testers have gained their popularity. The measurement method is quite simple and is based on the penetration of a hard tip into the material, and then measuring the penetration depth. The advantage is that you see the measurement results in real time, while measurements with other hardness testers require additional devices for hardness calculation, surface polishing and a microscope. Microtech produces hardness testers with analog and digital indication.
