One-sided thickness gauges are used to measure the thickness of a metal sheet, the walls of products on one side, which is important when measuring the wall thickness of pipes.
Ultrasonic thickness gauges have a built-in ultrasonic sensor in the probe, which, during the measurement process, sends a pulse through the analyzed coating, most often non-metallic, such as paint, spray or other coating. The sent pulse is reflected from the measured surface and converted by the sensor into a high-frequency electrical signal. The signal data is digitized and analyzed to determine the coating thickness.
